Armenophobia Partners with HAYREN to Demand Sanctions on Azerbaijan

In partnership with HAYREN, Armenophobia.org is committed to addressing the ongoing violations of human rights and international laws by Azerbaijan. As part of our shared mission, we highlight two crucial reports recently submitted by HAYREN that call for action from the Canadian government.

In March 2023, HAYREN submitted a detailed report to the Global Affairs Canada sanctions unit. The report presents compelling evidence of Azerbaijan’s persistent violations of human rights and international laws, specifically referencing sections 4(1.1) of the Special Economic Measures Act (SEMA) and 4(2)(a) of the Sergei Magnitsky Law. The report calls on the Canadian government to impose sanctions on Azerbaijan for its ongoing gross human rights violations.

In August 2023, HAYREN responded to a request from the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development by submitting a comprehensive list of Azerbaijani and Turkish individuals who should be sanctioned under Canada’s Magnitsky Law and SEMA. This report aims to target those directly responsible for human rights abuses, ensuring that they are held accountable for their actions.

These reports underscore the importance of global accountability in the face of ongoing discrimination and violence. By working with HAYREN, Armenophobia.org continues to advocate for justice and the protection of human rights. We urge the international community to take these reports seriously and to support efforts to impose necessary sanctions on those responsible for violations of international laws.

Together, we strive to combat the harmful effects of Armenophobia and ensure a future where human rights are respected and protected.
